McGill University is one of Canada’s best-known institutions of higher learning and one of the Canada’s leading universities. With students coming to McGill from over 150 countries, the student body is the most internationally diverse of any research-intensive university in Canada.
Of Greater Montreal’s 3.8 million residents, nearly 250,000 are college or university students—that’s more students per capita than any other North American city. And it’s no wonder why. With its open and creative culture, world-class universities, competitive tuition fees, and excellent employment opportunities, Montreal is one of the top student destinations in the world. In Canada all provinces are English-speaking with the exception of the province of Quebec. Montréal, where McGill is located, is in the French-speaking province of Quebec. Most teaching at McGill is conducted in English. Montreal is an island which has a large English/French speaking population influenced by French culture.
