The Cycle of Rankings
Rankings represent a school’s reputation and academic performance. The better the reputation, the better the applicants and the better the students whom attend. This produces higher quality and more successful alumni, who donate back to their Alma Mater, improving the quality of teaching, faculty, and offering the school more resources.
Hence a loop that makes good schools better, and rich schools richer.
Why fight the cycle? You will generally get a better education and a more valuable education at a higher ranked school.
Albeit there are other factors which should be researched.
